Session Description:

This presentation will discuss considerations for anesthesia providers to maintain safe work environments when participating in procedures that require fluoroscopy or computed tomography imaging guidance. The presentation will cover the potential harmful effects of radiation and references for radiation exposure guidelines. The basic components and function of a fluoroscopy machine and technical considerations to optimize radiation exposure will be reviewed. Several radiation protection strategies will be discussed along with the importance of dose exposure monitoring.
