Session Description:

This lecture will cover the neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of patients undergoing neurosurgical procedure, describe the types of neurosurgical procedures and any special needs and positioning for those procedures, and discuss how to administer an anesthetic plan that protects the brain and spinal cord while providing optimal conditions for the surgeons and the patient.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures
  2. Describe the types of neurosurgical procedures and any special needs/ positioning
  3. Develop and administer an anesthetic plan that protects the brain and spinal cord while providing optimal conditions for the surgeons and the patient
